Dr. Thorsten Wichmann

SHORT BIO

Dr. Thorsten Wichmann, the founder of Berlecon Research, has been researching the development and economic impact of new media and IT since the beginning of the 1990s.

From 1986 to 1991 he studied economics at the University of Hamburg and Purdue University, USA. He then went on to act as a member of the scientific staff at the Technical University of Berlin for several years. In 1996, he received his PhD with a thesis on economic growth theory.

From 1996 to 1997 Dr. Wichmann was a member of the scientific staff at the Institute for Economic Research in Halle (IWH). He founded Berlecon Research in 1997.

Thorsten Wichmann died in 2006, at the age of 40, following a short, serious illness.
